Retiring MP Maurice Vellacott to collect a $3.8 million pension

Saskatchewan MP Maurice Vellacott has announced that he won't seek re-election, opening the door for a $93,703 annual pension when he leaves office after the scheduled October 2015 federal election. Vellacott, an MP since 1997, represents the riding of Saskatoon-Wanuskewin. If he lives until age 90, the average age of parliamentary pension plan members, he will collect a total lifetime pension of $3.8 million.
